Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common furnace and air conditioner installation and replacement questions.
We are Home Depot authorized Installer our professional are able to analyze your heating and cooling needs and can expertly install new energy-efficient models such as high-quality systems by Trane.
We have products for every need including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, ductless systems, air filters and thermostats.
Most systems have a 10 to 20 year lifetime, but as your equipment gets older, its efficiency can decrease dramatically — becoming noisier and needing more frequent repairs. At that point, you’ll need to choose whether you’re going to repair your unit or replace it. Because heating and air conditioning technology improves over time, newer units are more energy efficient, making them an easy choice. Our authorized HVAC contractors can provide a FREE in-home estimate on the cost of a new system and show you a breakdown of how much money you’ll be saving on utilities with your newer, more efficient unit.
The simple answer is no. Air conditioners control the comfort level in your home by cooling the air and by removing humidity. An oversized unit can cool your home faster, but will use more energy and not remove humidity adequately. You may also need to upgrade your ductwork to accommodate the higher-powered unit. A larger unit will also have shorter run cycles so less air blows across the indoor coil where moisture condenses into water and drains from your system, which can lead to mold and mildew problems. It will also start and stop more often, using more energy and causing greater wear and tear. Larger furnaces function similarly and use more fuel, causing greater temperature swings in the home.
Upgrading to a high-efficiency HVAC unit, installing ceiling fans and ensuring an unobstructed flow of air to rooms are all great ideas, along with regularly scheduled maintenance of your unit.
Replacing the outdoor unit may cost you less upfront, but may cause your system to fail sooner than normal and will void most manufacturer’s warranties. You should always replace the indoor cooling coil with the outdoor HVAC unit.
Industry experts estimate that nearly 70% of all homes with central air have poorly installed ductwork — not properly sealed, insulated and failing to get hot and cold air where the homeowner wants it in an efficient manner. Before installing a new HVAC unit, make sure a licensed contractor inspects your ductwork to ensure that your new efficiency gains aren’t lost.
